July 16th 1968: NASA's calling. They need my help, fast, I spring into action immediately, jumping the first jet east. Six hours, three bags of peanuts and one truely horrendous chicken a la king meal later, I'm in Florida, where immediately upon landing I'm gladhanded by a pair of aviator sun-glassed NASA representatives and shoved into a jeep. I'm then shuttled off to NASA's cape canaveral, where I've been assigned the task of being the ''surprize guest'' at a party honoring one thousand of the agency's staff engineers. It's a difficult mission, one that could involve a lot of false smiling, waving and schmoozing. Still, as any good starship captain can tell you, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one, and with that in mind, I rise heroically to the occasion, sacrificing my personal comfort for the good of the united states program. Actually, this partys real purpose is to venerate the NASA engineers who've recently reached the milestone of completing their preliminary reserch computations in regard to the upcoming Apollo 11 manned moon landing. Their countdown to liftoff now stands at exactly one year, and with the majority of their paperwork behind them and but the majority of their nuts and bolts production still to come, NASA's powers that be have decided that this would be a perfect time to provide their biggest-brained employees with a large ceremonial pat on the back.

We have a man at NASA sir developing the plasma sheilds, star graph dimension data maps for ''on screen'', photon missiles and the new phasers, the tri corders are being prepared, funding is still an issue sir, but, the academy is receiving some fine acknowledgments for the federation.



It's important to keep the women on their knee's and the men on the tips of their toes...
